Hello Friends, trust we all are having a good start to the month of September and our four legged friends as well, this will be the first post of the month, I'm sorry for posting late this month and so the write up was inspired by the ugly incident that happened in Asaba, Nigeria where a German shepherd dog killed the four month old baby of its owner.
The family was said to have had the dog in the house before the baby was born, and continued to be a member of the family and this led to her owner taking her out to a grocery store even though it was reported she will be visiting the veterinary doctor with her dog after the shopping but unfortunately things got bad when she left the dog in the car with her house help and the baby.
The dog was reported to have started acting strange and this led to the house help leaving the baby in the car to call her boss the owner of the dog, but before they got to the car, the deed had been done, the baby had already been eaten up in the stomach by the angry dog.
My sympathy to the Maureen Akowe family and as we sympathise with them, this writing is also a campaign against seeing our four legged friends as our enemies or wicked creatures but also note that certain things must have led to this strange act.

It's left for we humans as responsible dog owners to train these pets right and also perform some simple duties to bring out the best in them, below are some tips to raise responsible pets
- Train your pets to obey you right from the puppy stage keywords such as sit down, stand up, go out, get that, stay right there e.t.c
- If you like taking your dog out on a walk, make sure its a friendly pet dog such as the Lhasa, Yorkshire Terrier,Maltese, Pomeranian, amongst others, they are smaller and more friendly, their breeds hardly bark and bite so they are pets for everywhere, bigger dogs like German shepherds, rottweilers, and other big dogs are friendly too but don't fit into going out to public places where people are much except formal pet friendly places like dog parks and fields.
- Make sure your dog's vaccines is up to date and also be observant when your dog acts strangely so you can have her vet check her out immediately.
- Children have most times been the victim of these carelessness from us adults and so, kids are to stay off dogs either strange or familiar dogs, and also kids shouldn't be left alone with dogs even the dogs they live with!
- I hear some owners say my dog like raw chicken and beef, as far as I'm concerned, it's a NO because we are teaching them to like raw food and blood which means they get comfortable sood be it hueeing blman or animal.

Owners are also supposed to familiarise their baby with their dogs, so your dog's instinct tells her the baby is not a threat but also a member of the family.
Do not run from a wandering dog, keep calm and walk past it even in fear, do not open your teeth, this sends a signal of attack to them and they act based on that.
Lastly, do not walk into someone's home without knocking and letting someone attend to you, do NOT assume you can tame dogs and expose yourself to danger, dogs claim territory and will fight and bite to protect it so please avoid dog bites and fights by adhering to these rules.
Just like I said earlier, we don't have to hate our dog friends, they are still the friends that are dedicated to us and love us more that they love themselves.
Another write up will be coming up soon on how to familiarise your baby with your dog, in the mean time you can tell me more on how you have been keeping peace in your home with your dog in the comment section..
Have a blessed week folks!

Great write up. For me, I feel, it is shear foolishness not just carelessness to leave your baby with a dog. As friendly and lots as they may be they are animals. On the other hand, many have experiences of dogs catering well for their children but that boils down to training which you hinged on so well. Many lack the ability to train human beings let to talk of animal. Looking forward to reading more illuminating post from you.
