Steps To Consider Before Getting A Pet

Dog ownership has gone past getting a dog and leaving it for your neighbour to take care of her while you are too busy or never available to cater and observe your dog, the expense of getting a dog is much more than just the expense of food but also the expense of taking proper care of the dog like giving her vaccines as at when due and the likes.

There is the need to take one’s time to know the estimated budget of owning a dog before getting one so to avoid abandonment on the part of the dog due to much expenses you might think she’s carting away from you, some dogs have become stray dogs roaming the streets and harassing passers-by, scouting for what to eat themselves and thereby facing abuse of pets from neighbours.

The cost of getting a dog should be based on your income either daily or monthly and also your passion for pets, trust me you can’t take absolute care of a pet if you have no love for pets. Getting a new puppy will come with expense and same as getting an older pet from the shelter already groomed and vaccinated so the choice is all yours.
After getting your dog, you must get a vetenary doctor who will be in charge of attending to your dog’s medical needs and you sure know that a visit to the doctor’s clinic attracts money. They are being vaccinated from 0-4 weeks old and another after 6 months and then yearly or depending on the directives of your vetenary doctor.
Feeding your dog is an important aspect when planning to own a dog because either as a puppy or an adult, dogs needs to be fed with foods that make them strong and keeps them going ad we have so many pet foods that you can buy for your dog that these vitamins have been packed in and mostly are ready to eat foods which in turns saves you the stress of cooking after a long day.

Providing a shelter for your dog is just as important as feeding it,just like we humans have where to rest our heads at nights, they need beddings too to lay on whenever they want to.
Another aspect to consider is how often do you intend to change her leashes and collars? These things have to be changed as they age because what they’ll use at 6 months is definitely not what they’ll use at 1 year because they might have grown out of it, they also needs to be groomed regularly especially pets with furs, they have to be shaved regularly, bathed regularly, cut their nails regularly as it starts to affect their activities when growing too long, their furs should be combed regularly, feel their body regularly to feel a swollen side if any and you definitely will agree with me that all these costs money.
Also, to be considered is supplements for your pet, like worm expellant, multi vitamins and other pet friendly supplements keeps your pets on track when they are down with flu.
Most importantly, when considering getting a pet, consider your income and how much you can afford to spend on your pet monthly or weekly, then you can choose the breed that falls within the range of what you can afford.
Lastly, you should have in mind that whether or not your dog is vaccinated up to date, your dog should always visit the vetenary doctor at least twice in a year for general check-up.

  1. I love dogs, but I'm scared of them and I really want to have one. What then do I do? I'm also a busy individual does it mean I can never have a dog?
